A New Take On Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is just around the corner - cue the turkey and extended family members. This time of year, is usually a time for an abundance of food, dinner parties and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with friends and family. The smell of honey ham, dressing, green beans, casseroles and so much more fill the air of every home. This holiday season is a time to show gratitude and to be thankful for all that we have.

Unfortunately, Thanksgiving Day will be a little different this year. The effects of COVID-19 may be felt all around the world but there is still so much to be thankful for. We can still have a happy holiday this year by taking the proper precautions to make sure we remain as safe as possible. Here are a few ways to make this holiday both fun and safe for you and your family.

Try a virtual Thanksgiving party

Of course, nothing can beat reuniting with your family in person. However, personal safety is of the upmost importance this year. Host a Zoom Thanksgiving dinner to spend time with your loved ones. Suggest a menu and have everyone prepare their own meal. You can even use apps to play virtual games or use Netflix’s Netflix Party extension to watch a holiday movie with your friends and family.

Host your Thanksgiving celebration outdoors

If you choose to be with your family in person during this holiday, try to host your party outside. Having your celebration outside allows for proper ventilation and a lower risk for the spread of germs. If you will be sharing an enclosed space with others, please consider wearing masks and be mindful of social distancing recommendations.

While celebrating this season with your friends and family, let's all take a moment to consider those among us who are less fortunate. This year has been challenging for many, and showing those in our community a little compassion can have a strong impact.

Columbus Water Works wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving!
