Happy Veterans Day!
Veterans Day

American soldiers play an important role in preserving our nation’s freedom. These men and women are sacrificing their lives to ensure our security. Through their commitment, we can enjoy the privileges that we have each day as American citizens, which is why we celebrate Veterans Day.

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day. It was established to remember the day of November 11, 1918 on the 11th hour, in which the Allied nations (the United States, France, Great Britain, Russia, and Italy) and their opponent Germany decided to temporarily end the hostilities between each other during World War I.

Later, following the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day to honor American veterans of all wars. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the legislation for the holiday on June 1, 1954.

At this time, Columbus Water Works would like to say thank you to all American soldiers who have fought and those who are currently fighting hard for our country. We appreciate your efforts, as well as your families support for you while you are dedicated to service.

Happy Veterans Day!
