How to Identify a Columbus Water Works Employee

Throughout the country there has been rising concern over people posing as utility employees to gain access to a person’s home, business, or banking information.  At the Columbus Water Works (CWW) we take this very seriously, as security is extremely important to us.  So, we created a list of things you, our customer, should know to help identify if you are really dealing with an employee of CWW.

  1. All CWW Employees have a Photo ID Badge identifying their name and employee number.  If you are uncertain of their validity, please ask to see their Badge.  If you are still unsure if they work for CWW, please call 706-649-3400 to speak with a customer service representative to verify their ID Badge and number and if they are assigned to be at your residence.
  2. If there is work being done near your home, a CWW employee may knock on your door to notify you of the work and any disruptions to service, otherwise employees will only come to your home if prior arrangements have been made (investigations, meter installations, etc.).
  3. CWW employees will not come to your home asking for personal information or money.
  4. CWW does not contact customers asking them to make immediate payments over the phone to avoid disconnection of services.  If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to work at the Columbus Water Works asking for immediate payment on your account, please report the issue to the authorities.
