New Year Resolution - Take 2
Every year we start a new year’s resolution.  We make goals and make plans to help make the next year better than the last.  Sadly, most of us stop pushing to meet our new goal within a few weeks of the New Year.  Are you one of the many who have already abandoned your resolution?  If so, it’s not too late to create a new one that is perhaps simpler than you might think.
Glass of water

Try drinking more water each day instead of sugary drinks.  Proper hydration can have significant benefits to your health such as improved kidney function, clearer skin and even weight loss.  Since our body is made up of approximately 60% water, it is vital that we maintain proper fluid balance for our health. Our bodies need water to flush out toxins, digest food, absorb nutrients, support organ function and more.

So how much water do I need to drink?
There are several different theories on how much water a person should drink.  Some experts say drink when thirsty, while others have a formula: drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day. Ultimately, we need to find the right balance for our individual body.  One way to get started is to drink an 8 ounce glass of water when you wake up and 30 minutes before a big meal. Try to get in the habit of carrying a refillable water bottle with you at all times.  This way you will never be without something to drink.

What if you don’t like drinking plain water?
There are several ways you can add flavor to your water such as using flavor drops or soaking fruit in your water.  When you are adding fruit and other flavors to your water, be careful of added sugar content, especially if you have a medical condition affected by sugar.

Added Bonus!
Did you know that by replacing a sugary drink for tap water, you can even save money?  By carrying a refillable water bottle with you throughout the day, you will always have something available to drink.

This New Years resolution is sure to help you have a healthier 2019.
