Drinking Water Week 2020

drinking water week

National Drinking Water Week is May 3 through May 9, 2020.  Water Professionals have been recognized during the first week of May for over 40 years, for their work in providing clean, safe and reliable water and wastewater services to their communities. The COVID-19 pandemic has not changed the dedication of these men and women, who continue to work around the clock ensuring our communities have the vital support clean, safe drinking water provides.

In 2015, Georgia dedicated the first Monday in May as Water Professionals Day.  On Monday, May 4th, communities across Georgia recognized their water professionals in a virtual way to thank them for their continuous service, no matter what we are facing these men and women keep working. Many people do not realize how vital clean drinking water is to a community's health. Safe and reliable drinking water directly impacts public health, fire protection, medical services, industry, agriculture, and more. Readily available drinking water has been extremely important during the pandemic to mitigate the spread of the virus.  Once these difficult times pass, the importance of drinking water will continue to provide essential support to every community.  The water professionals at Columbus Water Works are proud to serve our community with essential water – the fuel of life. We will continue to operate around the clock providing clean, safe and reliable water and wastewater services.

Thank You to all the essential workers supporting our community. Together, we will make it through these difficult times.
