Thank a Soldier This Veterans Day
Veterans Day 2020The American soldier plays a vital role in preserving both our nation’s freedom and our sense of security here at home and abroad. These brave men and women work tirelessly to ensure that we can continue to truly be called the "land of the free". Veterans day gives us an opportunity to show our appreciation and support for all that they do.

Originally called Armistice Day, Veterans Day was initially established in remembrance of the day the Allied Nations (the United States, France, Great Britain, Russia, and Italy) and their opponent Germany decided to temporarily end the hostilities between each other during World War I.

Later, following the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day was changed to Veteran’s Day to honor American veterans of all wars. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the legislation for the holiday on June 1, 1954. Today we continue to celebrate it on November 11 to pay tribute to that original event which took place on November 11, 1918 on the 11th hour.

At this time, Columbus Water Works would like to say thank you to all American soldiers who have fought and those who are currently fighting hard for our country. We appreciate your efforts, as well as your families support for you while you are dedicated to service.

On Wednesday, November 11, Columbus Water Works encourages you to thank a soldier for their service and remember the impact their sacrifices have made in your life.

From all of us at Columbus Water Works, “Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your bravery.”
