The Columbus Water Works will start Monday, March 14, 2016 on a project for rehabilitation for water mains on 2nd Avenue.  This water main has been in service since 1916 - 100 years.  Columbus Water Works contractor, Spiniello Companies (Mainlining LLC) will be doing the work that includes the cleaning and relining of aging distribution pipes using a process called Mechanical Cleaning and Cement – Mortar Lining.

Effective March 14, 2016, all traffic will be routed to the middle travel lane of southbound 2nd Avenue from 26th Street to 32nd Street. This lane closure will occur between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. while workers are present. Police will be directing traffic at the 32nd Street intersection.  Security barriers and signage will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians and reduce the disruption of the traffic flow.

This work is expected to be completed by the end of March.

Columbus Water Works employs many maintenance programs, such as the water main lining project, to prolong the life and productivity of our infrastructure, facilities and the quality of water provided to our customers. These rehabilitation projects help extend the life of the city’s water infrastructure to prevent
expensive and disruptive main breaks.
