Water Professionals Gather for Georgia Association of Water Professionals Annual Spring Conference in Columbus, Georgia
Columbus Water Works is proud to serve as the host utility for the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) 2016 Annual Spring Conference and Expo.  This event will be held at the Convention and Trade Center, Tuesday, April 26 and Wednesday, April 27. The Georgia Association of Water Professionals is a not-for-profit association whose chief purpose is to educate and assist those who have an interest in the proper management and protection of Georgia’s valuable water resources.

GAWP estimates that more than 600 water professionals and exhibitors will attend this year’s conference.  The conference will offer two days of educational sessions on topics including water/wastewater treatment, public education, regulatory guidance, asset management and leadership development.  It also provides a valuable opportunity for attendees to network with industry peers in a structured, yet informal setting.

In addition to the workshop sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in skill and technical based activities such as Meter Madness, Water/Wastewater Jeopardy, and Model Race Car Competition (made from supply parts related to water/wastewater plant).  There is also a “best tasting tap water in Georgia” contest in which representatives from each of the 8 GAWP Districts can compete in the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association tap water taste-testing competition.

GAWP has the most extensive awards program for water professionals in the entire state of Georgia.  Awards presented at the conference are statewide recognition in the areas of: water/wastewater plant awards, top operators, best tap water and the Biosolids/Residuals Program Excellence Award.
The largest organization of water professionals in the state, GAWP works to make advances in public health, safety and welfare by uniting the efforts of the full spectrum of water professionals.   GAWP knows the critical role that our water systems play in the health and safety of our communities and the importance of the work water professionals accomplish 24/7, every day of the year.
